Fun Activities I found!

6/17/2020

Today I found a couple of websites that had fun activities and games for those of all ages!

The Arabian Horse Association had several fun pages related to the Arabian Horse (like Trio!!)

I also found a website (thanks to the American Horse Council) that has games and puzzles as well as activities.  There is some advertising of items, so be prepared for that - but the games can be fun! There are crafts and horse videos as well - so have fun investigating.

Today I have fun colors for everyone!  Each horse has its unique color that they were born with, though it may change slightly as they age.  Can we find each of the Program Horses' colors on the chart?

Click on the chart to go to a page all about horses!
See if you can get them all correct!!

Horse Anatomy -

5/14/2020

Today, we look at all of the outside parts of the horse!  From Nose to Tail - and everything in between - we can learn what everything is called on a horse.  Then, try to figure out where the part would be on a person! While we may not have a hock or a tail, we do have an elbow (or 2!), shoulder, neck and hip.  Practice all of the parts on a toy horse, so you can impress your horsie friend when next you meet!

There is a good website that shows a more in depth picture of the horses' anatomy, plus pictures of a horse skeletal system and teeth.  If you have more questions - please check out the following site:

Getting clean!

5/12/2020

Good day, everyone!!

As you all saw in the last post - all of our program horses are dirty and still wearing some of their winter coats.  As the days get warmer, they will lose their fuzziness and become shiny again.

To help get them clean, you can watch the video I found and practice on any toy or stuffed horses you may own.  Then, you will be an expert when you come back to the ranch!

Enjoy the video, and we will work on horse parts later in the week!
Grooming tools:
  • Curry brush
  • Hard bristle brush
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Mane / Tail brush and comb
  • Hoof pick
  • Towel (optional) - good for wiping eye & nose goobers away.

Pasture Fun!

5/7/2020

Yesterday the horses went out to the pasture for the first time in 2020!  To keep our three pastures in good condition, the horses are kept off until the grass reaches a certain height - and then we rotate through them all spring, summer, and fall.  The horses start on just a short time and then over a week or 2 they are up to being able to be out all night.  They LOVE their grass!!
Picture
Psst...  Please excuse how hairy and muddy the horses are, there are not many of us able to groom them at the moment.  They will be sleek and shiny in a few weeks!

May the 4th be with you!

Or...   maybe it is "May the HORSE be with you!"
As we celebrate this Star Wars holiday, we are sad that we couldn't see our friends in person!

Spring session was supposed to begin tonight, but we will entertain ourselves with horsie pictures and videos to while away the time.

The horses will be going out to pasture this week, so I hope to have some shots of our excited friends as they have their first frolic in the grass!  Look for new pictures SOON!!!

Dr. Seuss rapping Party

I am not sure where I found this link - but here is a video of Dr. Seuss books being rapped - and he is doing a fantastic job!  "Fox in Sox" is a favorite of mine.

Marshall is patiently waiting to go back out to the herd after having a lovely breakfast.  Do you see that he still has some on his lips?  Maybe he needs a napkin!

Color Marshall!

Click on the picture to the right to be able to download this picture of Marshall to color.  Once you have finished the artwork, send a picture back and we will make sure he sees all of the beautiful portraits!

Can you tell who this is?
This nose was last seen hanging out a stall door in our barn.  Can you guess who it belongs to?
For the answer, look for the next post!
