Information on Equine Assisted Services & Therapeutic RidingEquine-assisted services & Adaptive (therapeutic) horseback riding have been utilized throughout history to help heal the wounded, but have become prominent in the last 40 years. More research has shown that interacting with a horse (or any animal) helps with mental and physical healing. Horses work well at exercising the body in a motion that is similar to a normal walking gait, helping train a rider's muscles and brain how to move around properly. They are also very good at reading body language, so they can help regulate and calm the moods of their companions.
