Information on Equine Assisted Services & Therapeutic Riding

Equine-assisted services & Adaptive (therapeutic) horseback riding have been utilized throughout history to help heal the wounded, but have become prominent in the last 40 years. More research has shown that interacting with a horse (or any animal) helps with mental and physical healing.  Horses work well at exercising the body in a motion that is similar to a normal walking gait, helping train a rider's muscles and brain how to move around properly. They are also very good at reading body language, so they can help regulate and calm the moods of their companions.

Below are links to articles that highlight these core themes.
